Fish off your houseboat for kapenta and tiger fish. Shoals of kapenta were airlifted from Lake Tanganyika in 1967 and Lake Kariba now boasts a high percentage of these fish. Catch a prized tiger fish and beat the record of the largest tiger fish caught in the lake at just under 8 pounds. Scenery on the shoreline includes a variety of estuaries, bird life for the avid bird viewer and a large number of game such as elephant and hippo.
The length of Lake Kariba is approximately 300 kilometers and it is claimed to be the largest man-made lake in the world. House boating in Zambia is ideal to go to any time of the year, but you will have the best experience between April and November.
