Situated just 18km’s upstream from the Victoria Falls and on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, is the award winning River Club. Occupying 32 acres of fenced in property, it is set amongst the lush vegetation of the river and has a distinct Edwardian characteristic about it.
Guests here can enjoy the sights and sounds of Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River in a peaceful and tranquil setting, away from the crowds. The opportunity to arrive in style is offered to guests at the river club as they can be transported to the property by boat, setting the scene for the perfect getaway. History buffs will love their stay at the lodge as the chalets are named after prominent figures from the countries past.
Accommodation at the River Club consists of:
10 Luxury thatched chalets that can sleep up to 20 people. 7 of these rooms are twins, one is a family room and the other 2 are the exclusive honeymoon suites. Each chalet is completely open-fronted providing spectacular views of the mighty Zambezi River below. The rooms have en-suite facilities that include a bath, shower, toilet and basin. The rooms are also fitted with ceiling fans. The main house of the lodge, which was originally a farmhouse, comprises of the dining room, a lounge and pub area and an interesting library. A magnificent pool stands on the grounds for those guests who wish to bask in the sun. The day is started off with tea or coffee and a delicious English breakfast served to you on the veranda. Lunch and dinner are served in the main house.
Other facilities that guests can make use of include a curio shop, email and telephone facilities, card tables and board games, a post service, a laundry service and a croquet lawn. For added luxury, guests can relax while receiving a massage or any other beauty treatments offered at the spa facility on the property.
Included in the accommodation rates at the River Club is a tour of the Zambian side of the falls, a visit to the Simonga Village, evening river cruises, game drives and much more. Other attractions exclusive to Victoria Falls are bungi jumping, helicopter or microlighting trips over the falls, white water rafting and elephant back safaris. Peter Jones is the owner of The River Club - he lives at River Club. He is a Zambian who designed and built the lodge.
