Surrounded by abundant game and magnificent African sunsets, Gache Gache Lodge is situated on the Gache Gache estuary in the Eastern basin of Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe, one of the most lush and scenic locations about 3 km upstream.

Gache Gache Lodge is accessible by water, road or light aircraft, where guests can choose an optional transfer by speedboat or choose a scenic self-drive along a road only for 4x4 use.

Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Lake Kariba are 10 chalets with ethnic décor, en suite shower and toilet and private, sun-drenched verandahs. Identical on the outside to blend in with the beautiful wild nature, each chalet has glitter stone floors throughout, with 7 having twin three-quarter beds and 3 having Queen-sized beds, all with panoramic views of Lake Kariba.

Three wholesome meals a day, plus morning and afternoon teas are all part of the package at Gache Gache Lodge where guests can savour dinner under the stars. Feel extra pampered with a free laundry service, done the old-fashioned way: clothes are washed by hand and ironed with charcoal-heated irons.

The main lodge has a large dining area (seating 26 people), lounge and welcoming semi-circular bar area, all set in an unusual architectural structure, with thatch roofing and natural sandstone bricks crafted by locals. For lazy days, guests can relax in the Lodge’s plunge pool or the upstairs sun lounge. Gache Gache Lodge is the perfect family resort, offering something for everybody.

For the more adventurous, Lake Kariba is the ideal setting for unrivalled game-viewing. Make use of Gache Gache Lodge’s 4x4 vehicles for morning, sunset and night game drives or venture out on foot for incredible bird-watching and walking safaris. Because of its proximity to Lake Kariba, guests can enjoy wonderful trips on any of Gache Gache Lodge’s 4 boats for sunset cruises, lake adventures and the unforgettable lure of snagging Africa’s most infamous game fish, the Tiger Fish.
